DUFFY: BIGGEST FUNDRAISING QUARTER YET

RAISES NEARLY $220,000; COH $340,000
April 15th

[Ashland, Wis.] Ashland County District Attorney and Congressional Candidate Sean Duffy announced this morning that his campaign raised roughly $220,000 in the past three months – an amount higher than any previous Obey challenger raised in an entire campaign.

The previous record amount raised in an entire election cycle was $210,000 by Nick Reid who challenged Rep. Dave Obey in 2006.

Duffy said the campaign continues to build momentum and support from people throughout the district and beyond due to the pivotal role Obey played in Washington’s wasteful spreading spree and his authorship of the failed $787 billion stimulus bill.

“Dave Obey is at the center of the fiscal mismanagement of Washington and people are holding him accountable,” District Attorney Duffy said. “Our message of less spending, more jobs, and greater individual freedoms is resonating. Voters have had enough of Obey’s tax and spend agenda and they are stepping up to be part of a historic movement to bring fiscal accountability to Washington.”

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Duffy for Congress fundraising effort is more than 90% of all contributions came from small donors (those giving $200 or less). In addition, 87% came from those giving $100 or less.

“This is a grassroots effort,” District Attorney Duffy said. “Voters understand and are upset that after 40 years in Congress Dave Obey is in the pocket of the well-heeled lobbyists that bankroll his campaigns.”

Total Contributions: $219, 489.16
Cash on Hand: $339,388.66
Percentage of donations less than $100 - 87%
Percentage of donations less than $200 - 90%
Percentage of donations from individuals - 96%
Percentage of donations from PACs or Committees - 4%
